OK, are you still with me on the felted gift bag project? You should have the cast on complete and have knit about an inch of stockinette stitch below the cast-on edge.
- On the next round, you will: *k2tog, yo, k2; repeat from * to the end of the round. You should still have 48 stitches.
- Now knit every round until the sides of the bag are as long as you want. If you want to use the bag for a small gift, don't knit them more than about 7 inches. If you want to use it for something tall, knit them longer.
- Variation: you can also knit the sides using a stranded pattern or a slip stitch pattern. I've had you cast on 48 stitches for a reason. That reason being that 48 is divisible by 2, 4, 6, and 8 so you can use just about any slip stitch pattern that's been adapted to circular knitting. Use your imagination.
If you knit the sides in plain stockinette stitch, your bag should look like this when you're finished with step #2:
Got it? Just two more steps and you'll be finished.
